Former Blackburn Rovers defender Colin Hendry denies assaulting ex-girlfriend

Former Blackburn Rovers defender Colin Hendry has denied assaulting his ex-girlfriend Sarah Kinder.

The 49-year-old, who came to the end of a five-year relationship with the beautician earlier this year, has been accused of sending numerous unwanted emails and turning up at his former partner's home unannounced.

Blackpool Magistrates' Court heard that Hendry refused to accept the break-up and grabbed Ms Kinder's arm several times after approaching her in his hometown of Lytham St Annes, Lancs on April 18.

Hendry, who pleaded not guilty to common assault and harassment, has been bailed on the condition that he does not try to contact Ms Kinder.
