Australia beat Jamaica to book place in Netball World Cup final

Australia advance into the final of the Netball World Cup in Sydney, after they beat Jamaica 67-56 in their semi-final clash on Saturday.

Australia will go on to defend their title against New Zealand in the final of the Netball World Cup, after they beat Jamaica 67-56 in their semi-final match on Saturday.

The defending champions thrashed Wales 89-24 on Friday evening to square off against their last-four opponents, who managed to put up a stiffer test for the Aussies.

The game started evenly, as the Diamonds looked in control at certain intervals but the Jamaicans clawed their way back into it as the Aussies led by two goals at the end of the first quarter.

Caitlin Bassett continued to dominate in the first half, as she drained her 26th goal from as many attempts, giving the Aussies a nine-goal buffer at the break, with the Jamaicans looking tired and dejected.

The Aussies maintained their lead in the third after some continuous pressure from Jamaica, keeping the gap to just seven goals, with the score reading 49-42 in Australia's favour.

However, Bassett continued her hot scoring form, closing out the game with her 49th goal from 52 attempts to seal the semi-final victory over Jamaica.

Australia will go on to defend their title against New Zealand on Sunday.
