Scotland edged out in mixed pairs final

South Africa have edged out Scotland to take gold in the mixed pairs B2/B3 event at the Commonwealth Games.

Robert Conway and Irene Edgar, who were representing the host nation in Glasgow, found themselves 5-2 down in the fifth end, but they managed to level the contest at 5-5 before South Africa asserted their dominance.

The lead stretched to 10-6 in the 11th, but once more the Scots battled back to make it 10-10 in the visually impaired contest.

Conway had the opportunity to win gold with the last shot of the match, but he missed the target with the African nation prevailing 14-10.

Meanwhile, Australia defeated New Zealand 14-11 in the third-place shootout to seal bronze.
