Jonathan Quick to start for USA against Russia

Jonathan Quick will start in goal for the USA against Russia in the men's ice hockey game in Sochi on Saturday.

Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick will start for the USA against Russia in the men's ice hockey Group A clash at the Winter Olympics on Saturday.

The 28-year-old started his side's match against Slovakia on Thursday and saved 21 of the 22 shots that he faced during their 7-1 victory at the Shayba Arena in Sochi.

"Jonathan Quick to start in goal for US tomorrow against Russia," read a statement posted on USA Hockey's official Twitter page on Friday.

"He played real well in Game 1," ESPN quotes US coach Dan Bylsma as saying.

"I thought there were periods of inactivity in that game and he had to stay sharp, stay focused, and it was followed by two or three big saves he had to make."

Russia began their Sochi Games campaign with a 5-2 win against Slovenia.
