Formula 1 season to start earlier in 2016 after team complaints

F1 season to start earlier in 2016

The 2016 Formula 1 season will start two weeks earlier than originally intended following complaints from constructors.

The season was originally intended to start with the Australian Grand Prix on April 3 as the FIA tried to fit a record 21 races into the calendar, but the schedule has been changed following a World Motor Sport Council meeting earlier today.

The Melbourne race is now scheduled to take place on March 20, with the season set to end in Abu Dhabi on November 27.

A four-week summer break has also been reinstated following the meeting, after constructors complained about their mechanics' workload.

The British Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on July 10.
