Five Formula 1 races to start one hour earlier

Formula 1 races in Australia, Malaysia, China, Japan and Russia are brought forward by one hour.

Five Formula 1 races will start one hour earlier as a result of an investigation into Jules Bianchi's crash at last season's Japanese Grand Prix.

Bianchi skidded off the wet track and collided with a recovery vehicle, where he sustained serious injuries, and it has been suggested that starting races earlier would decrease the risk of poor visibility and heavy rain in some locations.

An accident panel said that "the start time of an event shall not be less than four hours before either sunset or dusk", which has led to races in Australia, Malaysia, China, Japan and Russia being brought forward.

The new F1 season starts in Melbourne, Australia in March.
