Bianchi father says driver is critical

Jules Bianchi's father has told French television that his son is in a critical condition following his crash at the Japanese Grand Prix this morning.

The Marussia driver collided with a recovery vehicle which was removing Adrian Sutil's Sauber from the side of the track after the German had run wide in wet conditions.

According to France 3 television, the 25-year-old's father has said that the driver is undergoing surgery for head trauma, and that he is in a critical condition.

The FIA confirmed that the Frenchman was unconscious while being transferred to a nearby hospital.
