Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli are confident that this weekend's German Grand Prix will not see a repeat of the tyre failures experienced at Silverstone.

The manufacturer came under fire after four cars suffered punctures and blowouts, including British driver Lewis Hamilton while he was leading the race.

However, Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery told Sky Sports News that those problems will be a thing of the past, with new tyres introduced at the Nurburgring and reverting to last year's rubber for Hungary and Belgium in coming weeks.

"We have a good team in Istanbul and they have been working flat as we were in Milan where we made sure we analysed and understood everything," he said.

On Thursday, the drivers had threatened to boycott this weekend's race at the Nurburgring if another tyre blowout occurred.
