Tottenham Hotspur Ladies are reportedly set to sign Chelsea Women forward Bethany England in a record-breaking deal worth £250,000.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies are reportedly preparing to smash the British transfer record for Women's Super League players to sign Chelsea Women attacker Bethany England.

The 28-year-old has found it difficult to earn regular starts for Emma Hayes's side this term, featuring in eight top-flight games but only making the first XI on two occasions.

England has also played just one game for Chelsea in the 2022–23 Women's Champions League, and Sarina Wiegman has left her out of her last two England Women squads.

With the 2023 World Cup on the horizon, the Daily Mail reports that England will soon make the move to Tottenham for a record-breaking £250,000 fee, and she has already said her goodbyes to her Chelsea teammates.

The English champions already hold the British transfer record for Women's Super League players, with Lauren James making the move to the capital from Manchester City for a £200,000 fee last year.

Meanwhile, the overall record for British female players is held by Keira Walsh, who left Man City for Barcelona in a £400,000 deal in the summer, and England's desire to earn a World Cup call-up is believed to be a major factor in her decision to join Tottenham.

The striker has 70 goals from 148 games in a Chelsea shirt since leaving Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2016, winning four WSL titles and two Women's FA Cups with the Blues.

England was named the FA WSL Player of the Year and PFA Women's Players' Player of the Year for 2020 after scoring 21 goals in 25 matches, and she was also a part of England's Euro 2022-winning squad, although she did not play a single minute for the Lionesses at the tournament.
