Aaron Ramsey says that Bradley Wiggins and other gold medalists are inspiring the Team GB football team to success.

Aaron Ramsey has revealed that Team GB's medal winners are inspiring the football team to their own success.

Stuart Pearce's men secured their place in the quarter-finals with a win over Uruguay on Wednesday, just hours after Bradley Wiggins had won gold in the cycling time trial.

Team GB added three more golds today and Ramsey admitted that it is a source of inspiration for the squad.

"It's great to see the Olympic squad being successful," he said. "I get a buzz out of watching a person like [Wiggins] winning a gold and what he's achieved so far."

The Arsenal midfielder also said that he was happy to get the opportunity to mingle with the other athletes in the village.

He continued: "We've been watching a few events on the telly at night and it has been interesting to see other athletes compete.

"When we were in the athlete's village before the Wembley game we spoke to few other competitors to get their ideas on mentality and training, and how they prepare for things."

Ramsey added that winning a medal would one of his greatest achievements and he is desperate for Olympic success.

"It'll certainly be up there," he said. "We're going to try really hard to achieve it. That's what we're here for, to try and get a medal for ourselves and for the country."

Team GB take on South Korea for a place in the semi-finals on Saturday evening.
