Roman Pavlyuchenko: Vedran Corluka was Spurs' strongest defender

Pavlyuchenko praises Corluka arrival

Roman Pavlyuchenko has claimed that Lokomotiv Moscow have signed Tottenham Hotspur's best defender by sealing the transfer of Vedran Corluka.

The Croatian has joined the Russian club on a three-year deal for a fee believed to be around £5.5m and Pavluchenko is excited to be reunited with his old teammate at White Hart Lane.

Pavlyuchenko said: "He is a very tenacious, uncompromising defender, who is practically impossible to beat one on one.

"He's physically strong and, without flatter, I would say that Corluka was probably the strongest defender at Tottenham."

Corluka spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.
