Tottenham Hotspur to choose Michael Dawson as new skipper?

Dawson to be named Spurs captain?

Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson is reportedly expected to be announced as the club's new captain.

The North London outfit are in need of a new skipper following the retirement of Ledley King last week.

Dawson, who spent the majority of last season on the sidelines with injury, recently claimed that he "would love" to take the captain's armband on a permanent basis.

It is understood that Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has opted to give Dawson the responsibility ahead of the new Premier League season, according to The Express.

The 28-year-old has been at White Hart Lane since 2005.
