Ronald Koeman praises Southampton, Swansea City blueprints

Ronald Koeman claims that Southampton and Swansea City are setting fine examples of how clubs should do business.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has stated that the Saints and this weekend's opponents Swansea City are great examples of how football clubs should be run.

The teams have established themselves in the Premier League in the past few seasons, having both played in League One less than a decade ago, while Swansea also lifted the League Cup in 2013.

Koeman has admitted that he has been impressed with the approach of Swansea and their manager Garry Monk.

"Like us, Swansea in my opinion is an example how you have to do the football business," the Dutchman told Sky Sports News.

"They have a very good coach and manager, they try to play attractive football. They lost some good players, signed some other good ones and are still fighting for a high position on the table.

"We can compare Swansea to our team and that's maybe the reason it's a difficult game for both teams. Look back at last season and we won in Swansea and they won here. It's close and it's detail that makes the difference this Saturday."

Southampton host Swansea on Saturday.
