Koeman "disappointed" by Southampton display

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that his side were "not good enough" in today's home defeat against Manchester City.

The Saints conceded three second-half goals to lose 3-0 to the champions and slip one place to third in the table as a result.

Koeman's men have upcoming games with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea before the turn of the year, and he admits that they must raise their game if they are to compete with the Premier League's best.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Dutchman said: "I'm disappointed because in the second half the beginning was a bit better than the start of the game. You know that if you do some mistakes you are punished for that. It was not good enough today and we have to realise that. The difference was the quality.

"We know in three days we have to play Arsenal away. There is no time to be disappointed and that you have to learn about the mistakes. If you like to beat these big teams you have to play better. That is what I have said to the players."

Strikes from Yaya Toure, Frank Lampard and Gael Clichy secured the victory for 10-man City at St Mary's.
