Russia's Igor Denisov to miss Euro 2016

Russia have confirmed that key midfielder Igor Denisov will miss Euro 2016 with a hamstring problem.

The 32-year-old picked up the injury in a 1-1 draw with Serbia at the weekend and after a series of tests, the Dynamo Moscow midfielder has been ruled out of the competition in France.

"On Monday, midfielder Igor Denisov underwent the MRT examination in Paris after the injury he got in the friendly match against Serbia," read a statement from the Russian Football Union.

"The examination confirmed a hamstring injury without any possibility to recover within next two weeks. Thus, the player departs to Russia where he will follow the rehabilitation course. The coaching and administrative staff of the Russian National team would like to wish Igor Denisov the fastest recovery."

Russia will begin their Euro 2016 campaign against England on June 11, before facing Slovakia and Wales in the group stages.
