Result: Roda JC keep De Graafschap bottom

Tom van Hyfte's goal leads Roda JC to a 1-0 victory as De Graafschap fail to climb off the bottom of the Eredivisie table.

De Graafschap remain bottom of the Eredivisie table after Tom van Hyfte secured a 1-0 victory for Roda JC.

Both sides struggled to create clear chances in the game's early exchanges, but Roda started to take control of the game in the first half.

The hosts took the lead on 37 minutes through Van Hyfte, who picked up Anco Jansen's pass and broke the offside trap before producing a tidy finish.

De Graafschap threatened to hit back before the break when Karim Tarfi unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box to force Benjamin van Leer into a fine save.

Roda should have doubled the lead early in the second half when Hicham Faik's inviting cross was met by Farshad Noor, but Hidde Jurjus kept his side in the game with a fine save.

Despite retaining the lead, Roda looked vulnerable at the back for long spells as the visitors piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser.

However, De Graafschap's best opportunity was wasted when Kristopher Vida sent a head over the bar from close range and Roda defended stubbornly in the closing stages to clinch the win.
