Sunderland have reportedly made an offer of £24m for Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi.
The 27-year-old made the move to Bologna from Genk in 2022, and he has represented his current side on 110 occasions in all competitions, including 44 appearances during the 2024-25 campaign.
Lucumi's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in signing him before the transfer window closes for business.
According to Sky Sports News, Sunderland have now submitted an offer of £24m, and it is understood that the Colombia international is open to joining the Black Cats.
Lucumi has played 94 times in Serie A over the last four seasons, including the full 90 minutes of Bologna's 2025-26 opener against Roma last weekend.
Personal terms are not expected to be a problem, meaning that a transfer could be wrapped up relatively quickly if Sunderland are able to come to an agreement with Bologna over a fee.
West Ham 'fail' with offer for Forest's Sangare
Elsewhere, West Ham United have reportedly failed with an offer for Nottingham Forest's Ibrahim Sangare.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers made an offer for Sangare which would have seen the midfielder spend the 2025-26 campaign on loan at the London Stadium, with the capital outfit then having the option to sign him permanently next summer.
However, Romano claims that the offer has been rejected, as Forest are only considering a permanent exit for the 27-year-old, or a loan with a guaranteed obligation.
Sangare has made 36 appearances for Forest since arriving at the club from PSV Eindhoven in September 2023.
The Ivory Coast international has started both of his side's Premier League matches this season, but he will allegedly be allowed to leave for an 'important fee' in the closing stages of the transfer window.
West Ham 'in talks' over structure of Victor deal
Staying with West Ham, the Hammers are allegedly currently in discussions with Botafogo over a deal for goalkeeper John Victor, with the two clubs yet to reach an agreement.
West Ham reportedly want Victor to battle new signing Mads Hermansen for the gloves this season, and talks over a switch to the London Stadium are thought to be advanced.
However, according to Sky Sports News, Botafogo want to agree a much higher purchase fee, should the Brazilian complete a permanent move to the English club next summer.
The report claims that West Ham only want to pay £6m, but Botafogo are hoping that can be pushed higher, with Victor expected to move to Graham Potter's side on an initial loan deal.
Victor impressed for Botafogo at the recent Club World Cup, and Manchester United are believed to have considered signing him earlier in the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old has kept 37 clean sheets in his 89 appearances for his Brazilian club.
