Dougie Freedman: 'Nottingham Forest can push on from Brighton & Hove Albion win'

Dougie Freedman insists that he is "not a magician" following a successful start to his stint as manager of Nottingham Forest with a 3-2 victory at Brighton.

Dougie Freedman has insisted that his Nottingham Forest side will take things "one game at a time" as they look to climb back up the Championship table.

An alarming slump in results under former boss Stuart Pearce saw Freedman brought to the helm earlier this week and, having claimed an impressive 3-2 victory away at Brighton & Hove Albion in his first game in charge, the Scottish manager is now seeking further improvements.

"It's the same mindset in that I'm still looking over my shoulder," he told reporters following The Amex Stadium showdown. "It's one game at a time. It could have been better, we could have got a clean sheet.

"We can improve but I know the group of players that I have got and we will work on things. I'm not a magician but I've got a lot of experience at this level. It's great for a coach to work with a bunch of players and that will build confidence."

Forest are still some 13 points off the Championship playoffs, although they can attempt to cut that gap when they take on lowly Wigan Athletic in midweek.
