The 25-year-old underwent double hernia surgery earlier this week after suffering the problem earlier this month.
"We are hoping that Eric will feature before the end of season," MLSsoccer.com quotes Forest as saying.
The United States international has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Forest this season.
