The Turkish Football Association have confirmed that they have submitted a bid to host the European Championships in 2020.
Recent reports had claimed that the Turkish FA have been told that they have the full backing of UEFA president Michel Platini.
Turkey are expected to face competition from the likes of Germany, Holland and the Czech Republic for the right to hold the event.
A decision will not be made until early 2014.
