Kalusha Bwalya: 'Africa will vote for Sepp Blatter to retain FIFA presidency'

Zambia Football Association president Kalusha Bwalya believes that Africa will vote for current FIFA president Sepp Blatter to retain the role in the upcoming elections.

Zambia Football Association president Kalusha Bwalya has claimed that Africa will vote for Sepp Blatter to retain the FIFA presidency.

The Swiss will take on former Real Madrid winger Luis Figo, Dutch football federation president Michael van Praag and Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein in the world football governing body's presidential elections on May 29.

Bwalya told BBC Sport: "We as Africa - myself included - have said we will back Blatter for another term because he has the requisite passion to carry football in the next four years.

"In this situation we have made a commitment to president Sepp Blatter. We are happy with the way he has run things."

Blatter was elected in 1998, succeeding Joao Havelange, and retained the presidency in 2002, 2007 and 2011.
