Joan Laporta denies Barcelona are in Erling Braut Haaland negotiations

Laporta denies Barcelona are in Haaland negotiations

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has denied that his club are currently in negotiations over a summer deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-forward Erling Braut Haaland.

The Norway international will have a £67m release clause in his BVB contract at the end of the current campaign and is widely expected to leave his German club.

Barcelona boss Xavi is believed to have met with Haaland in Munich last week to discuss a possible move to Camp Nou during this summer's transfer window.

However, Laporta has said that the Catalan giants are not currently in talks over a move for the 21-year-old, who is also said to be a leading transfer target for Real Madrid.

"I deny that we've started any kind of negotiation for Erling Haaland," Laporta told Deportes Cuatro. "Meeting between Xavi and Haaland? That's not up to me."

Haaland has again been in impressive form for Dortmund during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 23 goals and registering six assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also believed to be among the clubs interested in signing the Norwegian this summer.
