Manchester City to release Owen Hargreaves

Manchester City will reportedly release injury-plagued midfielder Owen Hargreaves at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old is currently on a pay-as-you-play deal at the Etihad Stadium following a free transfer from local rivals Manchester United last summer.

The England international last played for City in a reserve game at the end of March and has made four appearances for the first team this season.

This latest development has yet again cast doubt over his future in the game.
