City 'to launch January bid for Sanchez'

Manchester City will reportedly table a January offer for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, as boss Pep Guardiola fears losing out at the end of the season.

The Citizens came close to landing the Chile international during the summer window, only for their Premier League rivals to pull out of a £60m deadline-day deal.

Guardiola had hoped to wait another six months before taking Sanchez on a free contract, but the Manchester Evening News suggests that the Catalan coach's plans have changed after learning of two rival bids.

A couple of unnamed clubs are said to have renewed their interest in the 28-year-old, who could still attract a healthy transfer fee despite being in the final throes of his existing deal.

City therefore risk losing out if they do not make a formal bid of their own, though Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger remains reluctant to offload to a title rival midway through the season.
