Man City injury, suspension news and return dates for Southampton trip: Rodri, Nathan Ake, John Stones latest

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture away to Southampton at St Mary's.

Manchester City will be aiming to make it eight wins from nine in all competitions when they make the trip to St Mary's to face already-relegated Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

After overcoming Nottingham Forest in their FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, City returned to league action with another victory last weekend, edging past Wolves 1-0 at the Etihad, keeping them in the driving seat to secure a top-five spot in the Premier League.

The race remains devilishly tight, though, because the five clubs still in the hunt for the three remaining Champions League places are separated by just four points, so any slip-ups will likely be punished at this stage of the season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with the league's bottom-place side, who were beaten in dismal fashion by fellow relegated outfit Leicester City last weekend, leaving the Saints still level on points with the infamous Derby County side from 2007-08.

Rodri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Rodri's ACL injury, sustained during the clash with Arsenal at home in September last year, will sideline him for the rest of the season, and there is only a slim chance of the Ballon d'Or winner playing at the Club World Cup over the summer.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Bournemouth)

Ake had surgery after suffering a fracture in his left foot two months ago, and Guardiola has revealed he is recovering well, so a return before the Premier League season is out looks likely.

John Stones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Bournemouth)

Stones has not featured since sustaining a thigh injury in the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in February, but Guardiola has revealed the defender is getting better, and expects a return some time later in May for the England defender.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for this match.
