Roberto Mancini criticises Belgium for playing Vincent Kompany

Mancini blasts Belgium over Kompany

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has hit out against the Belgium national team for selecting Vincent Kompany to play against Macedonia.

The defender has been out of action for the past eight weeks with a calf injury, but made his return to the field during Belgium's 1-0 victory on Tuesday.

"He didn't play for us for 60 days and then he went to play for the Belgium team," BBC Sport quotes Mancini as saying. "I did not agree with this. I think sometimes some managers of national teams should understand the situation.

"This player plays for the club and the club, every month, pay his salary. I don't know if he is okay or not. One week before the international break he was not fit to play for us."

Meanwhile, Mancini has admitted that the Premier League title race is over due to their 15-point trail behind Manchester United.
