Man City striker Edin Dzeko believes that his side's lack of experience contributed to their last-gasp defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has claimed that his side's lack of experience was the reason behind their late defeat at the hands of Real Madrid this evening.

City led the Spanish giants 2-1 with just minutes to play, but two late goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo saw Madrid run out 3-2 winners.

Dzeko, who scored City's first goal, bemoaned the dramatic turnaround, stating his belief that they made it too easy for Madrid.

"I don't think this should have happened. We have too many good players, too much experience to let these goals in," said the striker.

"If you lead 1-0 and then 2-1, then you give two goals like that it is not good. Like I said, this shouldn't happen. If you want to win big trophies you should be able to hold on to this game.

"We have not got enough experience yet, but we were up 2-1 in the 88th minute or something like that and then conceded two goals in three minutes. It was too easy, too easy."

City's next Champions League tie is at home to Borussia Dortmund on October 3, while they return to domestic action against Arsenal on Sunday.
