Sergio Aguero: 'Pep Guardiola improving my game at Manchester City'

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero praises the instant impact made by Pep Guardiola, who he believes is helping to improve his own game in front of goal.

Sergio Aguero has become the latest Manchester City player to hail the methods of Pep Guardiola and claimed that his new manager is helping to take his game to another level.

The Argentina international boasts the best minutes-per-goal ratio in the top flight, scoring more than any other player in the Premier League since joining the club five years ago.

Aguero has hit the ground running this season, too, finding the net six times in his first three games in all competitions to take his tally to 142 goals overall for the Citizens.

With Guardiola now on board at the Etihad Stadium, the 28-year-old insists that the new style of play being adopted at City will only improve his own game in front of goal.

"Pep has changed our tactics and the style of play we've had over the last five years," he told Sky Sports News. "For me it has been a change because I'm the player who initiates pressing, so I'm working hard and getting used to it. Of course you need to be very fit in order to do that.

"It's also fantastic because he always wants the team to be in possession, to press high and play on the front foot. That gives me more goal-scoring opportunities and the team a better chance of winning.

"I'm getting used to it and I've been enjoying myself in the first few games. It's very demanding, but in a positive way, so we have to give it our all and hope that we can all be happy come the end of the season."

Aguero is expected to start this afternoon's home match against West Ham United, as City look to make it three league wins from three.
