Nuri Sahin nears Liverpool switch

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the club is close to agreeing a loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.

The Reds boss said that he expects the deal to be tied up within "the next 24 hours".

Turkish international Sahin had been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, but Liverpool appear to have beaten their Premier League rivals to his signature.

The 23-year-old failed to hold down a first-team place at Real Madrid last season, making just four league appearances for Jose Mourinho's team.
