Mignolet quiet on Reds' Benteke pursuit

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has insisted that he is in the dark over the club's reported pursuit of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen to add some attacking power to his squad due to Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert failing to impress last season.

Benteke has been heavily linked to Liverpool, but the Merseyside outfit are reportedly unwilling to meet Villa's £32.5m release clause.

"I don't know what's happening there," the Liverpool Echo quotes Mignolet as saying. "That's not my stuff and I'm not thinking about it. All I know is that Christian is a very good player."

On Wednesday, reports emerged claiming that Manchester United intend to scupper Liverpool's plans by launching their own bid for Benteke.
