Lovren expecting Salah to stay with Liverpool

Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has tipped Mohamed Salah to remain at Anfield despite the widespread speculation surrounding the Egyptian's future.

Salah recently refused to rule out a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid, while Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that he wants to bring the attacker to Allianz Arena.

Liverpool have found it difficult to match last season's standards in 2020-21, but the former Chelsea youngster has again been in excellent scoring form for Jurgen Klopp's side, finding the back of the net on 21 occasions in 32 appearances in all competitions.

Lovren, who now represents Zenit St Petersburg, still has a close relationship with his former teammate and has backed the Egypt international to remain with the Merseyside giants on a long-term basis.

"I'm still in communication with Mo Salah. We are best buddies. We talk about everything. Mo is committed, not just for Liverpool but for all the fans and for himself. He is the biggest critic of himself when he doesn't do well," Lovren told talkSPORT.

"I'm not surprised he is doing well individually, when you look at how many goals he has scored, he is amazing at the moment. There needs to be love from both ways (both Salah and Liverpool), I see now that they have it, so why not [stay]?"

Salah, who has scored 115 goals in 184 appearances for Liverpool, has a contract at Anfield until the summer of 2023.
