Liverpool 'to move for Xherdan Shaqiri after World Cup'

Liverpool 'to move for Shaqiri after WC'

Liverpool will allegedly step up their pursuit of Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri following the Swiss international's participation in the World Cup.

The Reds were initially linked with a £12m deal for the playmaker earlier this month as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to provide backup to his front three.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool have received initial encouragement from the 26-year-old, and will move ahead with the transfer if Stoke are willing to let the player leave.

The Merseyside outfit will reportedly turn their attention away from the transfer window while the World Cup takes place, but are expected to resume negotiations with Shaqiri after Switzerland exit the tournament.

Liverpool have already confirmed the signings of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig and Monaco's Fabinho in the current transfer window.
