Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The champions meet the challengers in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Liverpool welcome runaway leaders Manchester City to Anfield for a mouthwatering contest.

The visitors extended their winning run across all competitions to 13 matches with a comfortable 2-0 win over Burnley in midweek, with Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling putting the tie to bed before half time.

That victory saw Pep Guardiola's side extend their lead at the top of the table to three points over Manchester United - who have played a game more - and they could move 10 points clear of Liverpool should they overcome the holders on Merseyside.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's battle.

Kevin De Bruyne

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: February 27 (vs. West Ham United)

The hamstring injury that Kevin De Bruyne suffered during the victory over Aston Villa last month has ruled him out for the next few weeks, so he will not be available for this crunch match.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Sergio Aguero recently returned to training after recovering from coronavirus, but Guardiola conceded that the Argentine is still "a few weeks" away from being ready, so he will not get the chance to build on the seven goals he already boasts against Liverpool this weekend.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: Unknown

Defender Nathan Ake continues to struggle with an ongoing muscular problem and is not expected to be ready for this match, but it would be surprising to see him start if fully fit.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for their trip to Anfield.
