Preview: Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Sports Mole looks ahead to Tottenham's trip to Liverpool in the Premier League.

Two clubs with top-four aspirations will clash at Anfield on Tuesday night when Liverpool entertain Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The hosts are currently the league's in-form team, with 14 points from 18 putting them in seventh place in the table.

However, their march up the standings suffered a setback at the weekend as they were held to a goalless draw by local rivals Everton at Goodison Park.

Despite dropping points against their fellow Merseysiders, Brendan Rodgers's side could move to within two points of the Champions League places if they see off Spurs.

Tottenham travel to Anfield in a similar vein of form to their opponents, having won four of their last five games. Mauricio Pochettino's men, who are in fifth position in the standings, sit just one point adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United.

They recorded arguably their most satisfying result of the campaign so far on Saturday with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Arsenal. Man of the moment Harry Kane netted twice for Spurs, taking his tally to 22 goals for the season.

While there has been little to separate Liverpool and Tottenham in recent weeks, it was the former who dominated the reverse fixture back in August as goals from Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard and Alberto Moreno earned them a resounding 3-0 triumph at White Hart Lane.

Sterling, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana are all available after injury concerns, but Lucas Leiva has been ruled out with a groin problem. Meanwhile, Daniel Sturridge could be handed a first start since his return to fitness.

Spurs have no fresh injury worries ahead of the game, though Federico Fazio could be back in the starting XI after being dropped to the bench in the North London derby.
