Brendan Rodgers feels that Liverpool deserved to beat Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that his side were worthy of a win against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

Gareth Bale scored for both teams either side of an Aaron Lennon goal to give Spurs a 2-1 win at White Hart Lane.

Despite the defeat, Rodgers is adamant that his side deserved to take all three points from the encounter.

"I would have been disappointed if we would have drawn the game, having played so well," said Rodgers.

"I think we created more than them and we pushed them back. We're up there with the top teams in terms of creating chances in this league and we want to be that bit more clinical.

"I can't have any complaints from the team tonight. Yes we didn't get any points, but the performance level was outstanding and if we play like that we will climb the league very quickly."

Liverpool host Southampton in their next game on Saturday.
