Brendan Rodgers hints at Luis Suarez rest

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers suggests that he could soon rest striker Luis Suarez.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted that Luis Suarez could be rested in the coming weeks.

The Uruguayan striker has made 27 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season, scoring 18 goals in the process.

However, Rodgers believes that new signing Daniel Sturridge and a return from injury for Fabio Borini could soon take the pressure off Suarez.

"He is an ultimate professional," the Liverpool boss told reporters. "There are no worries with him, but he's coming off the back of a real busy period where he's given everything in the games and scored goals.

"We have players coming back now, which is great, and having Daniel come through the door and Fabio Borini returning from injury will be great for us."

The Merseysiders travel to Conference side Mansfield Town in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
