Liverpool suffer Ryan Gravenberch injury scare

Liverpool suffer Ryan Gravenberch injury scare

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Ryan Gravenberch following an injury scare in Thursday's Europa League win over LASK Linz.

After struggling to establish himself at Bayern Munich, Gravenberch completed a £34m move to Liverpool on transfer deadline day.

The Dutchman came off the bench to make his debut in Saturday's Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, before being handed his first start for the Europa League clash in Austria.

Klopp changed his whole side for the opening group game, leaving Gravenberch to find his feet in the midfield alongside Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott.

Gravenberch left his mark on the contest, providing an assist for Luis Diaz to net Liverpool's second goal in the 3-1 victory.

Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah also got on the scoresheet as the Reds came from behind to extend their unbeaten start to the season to six competitive games.

Gravenberch was forced off and replaced by Salah in the 75th minute of Thursday's away trip, raising concerns over a potential injury.

However, Klopp played down those injury fears when asked about the midfielder's performance and fitness status after the game.

"Very good, he told me he had cramp," Klopp told TNT Sports. "That makes sense, it was the first start for a while I think.

"He did really well, for the long time he was the best player on the pitch but in the first half, frustration grew then you saw him getting lost as well.

"It's normal, these things happen but stayed in the game as long as he could, really good moments. He set up a good goal for Lucho, for not knowing a lot about his teammates, it looked pretty tuned."

Despite putting in an encouraging performance on his full Liverpool debut, Gravenberch is likely to drop back down to the bench for Sunday's home game against West Ham United.

Liverpool, who are currently sitting in third position, will be aiming to continue their winning run and record a sixth straight victory in all competitions.
