Martin Skrtel diverts John Arne Riise's cross into his own net in the fifth minute to give Fulham a 1-0 half-time lead at Anfield.

Martin Skrtel's early own goal has given Fulham a one-goal lead at the break in tonight's Premier League encounter at Liverpool.

Fulham went ahead after just five minutes when John Arne Riise's cross was deflected towards goal and an off-balance Skrtel could only divert into his own net.

The visitors almost made it two soon after when Clint Dempsey found Pavel Pogrebnyak, who saw his volley on the stretch saved by Doni.

Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer almost gifted the Reds a leveller when he let Jonjo Shelvey's effort slip through his palms, but luckily for the Australian Brede Hangeland was on hand to clear the danger.

A win for Fulham would see them draw level on points with Liverpool in eighth position.
