Steven Gerrard: 'Result is the important thing'

Steven Gerrard has admitted that Liverpool were fortunate to knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup this afternoon.

The tie looked to be heading for a replay until Dirk Kuyt came off the bench to score the winning goal two minutes from time.

When asked by ITV Sport whether his team deserved their win, Gerrard replied: "Not on possession and probably not in general play.

"You've got to give Man United credit. They controlled large parts of the game today but the most important thing was the result."

Liverpool are now in the hat for tomorrow's round five draw.
