Roberto Firmino's record vs. Manchester City

Roberto Firmino's record vs. Manchester City

Liverpool take on Manchester City at Anfield on Wednesday night in a mouthwatering Champions League quarter-final tie.

The Reds have been in impressive form of late, winning seven and drawing two of their last 10 matches, and will feel confident of taking a second-leg lead to the Etihad Stadium.

Key to Liverpool's run on the continent has been the form of their forward trio as Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have netted 19 between them in this year's competition.

Firmino leads the way in that regard thanks to his seven goals, while also chipping in with a further three assists across those eight outings.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how he has fared against Man City in the past.

The Brazil international has featured against the Citizens six times in the Premier League, scoring in exactly half of those games.

A goal in both of the 2015-16 top-flight fixtures, with Liverpool winning by a three-goal margin home and away, was followed up by his composed finish in the most recent meeting between the two sides in January - a seven-goal thriller edged by the Reds.

Firmino was less successful in the EFL Cup final showdown two years ago, however, failing to make too much of an impact in his 80 minutes on the field, before City went on to win the match on penalties.

Four assists across the seven previous encounters, though, on top of those three goals netted, does suggest that the Brazilian forward could have a big part to play on Wednesday night.
