The Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 to win Super Bowl LVI courtesy of a late Cooper Kupp touchdown and Aaron Donald sack.

The Los Angeles Rams have won Super Bowl LVI courtesy of a narrow 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in California.

The Rams, playing on home turf, claimed their second Vince Lombardi trophy at the expense of the Bengals, whose wait for a first Super Bowl crown goes on.

Sean McVay's side struggled on offense for long spells in the match, particularly after losing Odell Beckham Jr to a serious-looking knee injury in the first half.

However, with other options having failed to bear fruit, quarterback Matthew Stafford reverted to his usual partner in crime Cooper Kupp on the final drive downfield.

The Bengals' double coverage on Kupp failed to halt their march towards the endzone, and the duo combined for one last time to score the winning touchdown with just 85 seconds left on the clock.

Joe Burrow had the chance to lead one final drive to clinch either a Super Bowl-winning touchdown or a game-levelling field goal, but Aaron Donald produced a clutch play to sack the Bengals quarterback and win the game for the Rams.

In total, Burrow was sacked seven times throughout the match, with six of those coming in the second half as the Rams defense began to pick holes in the Bengals' offensive line.

The Rams had appeared in control early on courtesy of touchdown catches from Beckham Jr and Kupp, giving them a 13-3 lead before Beckham Jr was forced off through injury.

The coverage of Kupp and Beckham Jr's absence left Stafford short of options in offense, particularly with their running game failing to make any serious ground, and the Bengals soon fought their way back into the contest.

Two touchdown catches from Tee Higgins put the Bengals into the lead, with the second of those coming almost immediately after half time.

An interception moments later continued the Bengals' perfect start to the half, before a field goal apiece made it a four-point game heading into the final quarter.

Super Bowl MVP Kupp's touchdown late on, coupled with Donald's sack on Burrows, then sealed the win for the Rams, who become Super Bowl champions for only the second time and the first since 1999.
