Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss John Hughes revels in historic cup win

Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss John Hughes admits that his side rode their luck during their 2-1 win over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup final.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Hughes has hailed his players following their 2-1 victory over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup final, but was quick to admit that they rode their luck during the match.

Hughes described becoming the first Caley boss to lift the trophy as an "absolutely fantastic" feeling, while also paying tribute to the opposition for their performance.

"We've made history once again, winning the Scottish Cup, absolutely fantastic," he told Sky Sports News.

"I'd like to pay respects to Falkirk, they were the better team in the second half and somehow we're down to 10 men but we've pulled through again.

"I felt we started a little bit nervous but then got going and got a good goal. In the second half we never turned up but the spirit to turn it round and win it was exceptional."

Caley needed a late goal from James Vincent to secure the trophy after Peter Grant cancelled out Marley Watkins's opener.
