Ciro Ferrara appointed new Sampdoria coach

Sampdoria have officially announced Italy Under-21 coach Ciro Ferrara as their new coach, replacing Giuseppe Iachini.

The details of the deal have yet to be announced, but the former Juventus boss has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with an option for a further year.

A Sampdoria statement said: "Ciro Ferrara will be the new coach of Sampdoria.

"The agreement with the new Partenopeo tactician will be ratified in the next few days."

Ferrara was expected to become the new Sampdoria coach before the official announcement.
