Guingamp strike in extra time to beat Gazelec Ajaccio

Gazelec Ajaccio are knocked out of the Coupe de la Ligue as Sloan Privat's extra-time goal gives Guingamp a 1-0 victory.

Sloan Privat's extra-time strike has put Guingamp into the last 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue after a slender 1-0 victory over Gazelec Ajaccio.

The game - which was originally postponed in October due to a waterlogged pitch - went ahead this time around despite the heavy rain which fell at the Stade Ange Casanova this evening too.

John Tshibumbu went close with a 15th-minute header for the hosts which Jonas Lossl kept out.

Laurent Dos Santos then flashed a 20-yard drive narrowly wide of the upright for the visitors in the first period.

Privat almost finished off a low centre after 80 minutes, but he too missed the target.

Mana Dembele then thought that he had won it at the death, but his strike was ruled out for offside and the game went to extra time.

Dembele threatened again six minutes into extra time, but his firm header was parried to safety by Jules Goda.

However, at the end of the first half of extra time, Privat sent a calm finish into the back of the net to send Guingamp through to the next round.
