Aston Villa are planning a surprise January swoop for Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

The Ivorian, who will become a free agent in the summer, is currently at a stalemate with the Blues over a new contract.

A move for the Ivorian could allow Darren Bent to leave for Liverpool, according to Goal.com.

However, Villa are thought to be unhappy at the thought of Bent leaving.
