Jose Mourinho plays down Radamel Falcao exit talk

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho insists that rumours linking Radamel Falcao with a move away from Stamford Bridge are pure fabrication.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has played down suggestions that Radamel Falcao wants to quit Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

The Colombian international joined the Blues on a season-long loan from AS Monaco in the summer, but has only scored once in the Premier League this term after struggling for regular action.

It has been reported that the former Manchester United loanee wants to return to Monaco in the winter transfer window, but Mourinho has claimed that he knows nothing of the rumours.

"First of all I don't know if it's true. I speak with him every day, it's quite strange that the press knows something that I don't, or my club know," Mourinho told reporters.

"He has to give us more than Diego Costa. We normally play with one striker and I always go for the performance level for the position - the best one plays."

A host of La Liga clubs are also reportedly interested in bringing the 29-year-old back to Spain.
