Chelsea are reportedly expecting to lose central defender Andreas Christensen on a free transfer this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly expecting to lose Andreas Christensen on a free transfer this summer, having failed to agree a new contract with the central defender.

The Denmark international has been an important player for the Blues during the 2021-22 campaign, making 26 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.

Christensen's contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of June, though, and the two parties have been unable to come to an agreement over an extension.

According to Sky Deutschland, the European Cup holders have now privately accepted that they will be unable to precent the defender from leaving on a free transfer.

The report also claims that the 25-year-old's teammates are expecting him to seek pastures new ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are believed to be competing for Christensen, who has made 153 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions since debuting for the London giants in 2013.
