Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Chelsea could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel could make changes aplenty when his side travel to St Mary's to face Southampton in Saturday's Premier League encounter.

The Blues remain without ACL victim Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi with his Achilles and back problems, while Hakim Ziyech (knock) and Romelu Lukaku (Achilles) have emerged as fresh doubts.

The manner of Chelsea's recent defeats to Brentford and Real Madrid ought to see Tuchel shuffle the pack considerably, with Thiago Silva likely to be rested ahead of the second leg with Los Blancos on Tuesday.

A spot should therefore open up for Trevoh Chalobah to rejoin Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger in the backline, although Malang Sarr is an option for change over the latter.

Cesar Azpilicueta may be preferred on the right-hand side given that Reece James has only recently returned to fitness, which should lead to a recall for Marcos Alonso on the opposite flank.

Jorginho could also hold his spot in the middle as Mateo Kovacic seeks to displace N'Golo Kante, and Christian Pulisic may be fit enough for another start in the final third.

Ziyech will expect to return to the first XI if he is fit enough, and the same can be said for Lukaku in order to keep Kai Havertz in tip-top shape for the Santiago Bernabeu trip, with the Belgian's Achilles pain not understood to be a major injury.

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Mendy; Christensen, Chalobah, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Kovacic, Jorginho, Alonso; Ziyech, Lukaku, Pulisic
