Frank Lampard looks to improve league form

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has admitted that the club must improve on their league form this season.

Despite winning the FA Cup and Champions League, the Blues ended the last campaign sixth in the table.

Lampard now hopes that the team will take their cup form into the Premier League.

"There is certainly no time to rest on our laurels," he told the club's official website. "Our league form wasn't good enough last season, we weren't consistent enough, and that is something that we have to put right.

"We need to take the Champions League victory and the FA Cup victory as a platform to more rather than settling for that and not pushing on as a club.

"I am sure with the personnel we have got here, the new signings and the way this club is run, we will keep striving for more."

Chelsea start the new campaign at Wigan Athletic on Sunday, August 19.
