Roberto Di Matteo dismisses suggestions that his Chelsea team have benefitted from good fortune recently.

Roberto Di Matteo has dismissed suggestions that his Chelsea team have benefitted from good fortune recently.

The Blues unconvincingly beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 on Saturday and replays later showed that both of their goals should have been ruled out for offside.

That result moved Chelsea to within three points of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table, but the Italian has rebuffed claims that his team are lucky to still be in contention for a Champions League place.

"If you look at this team this season, we haven't had exactly a lot of luck," he said.

"Sometimes, you need a little break, but I don't think we had actually many this season, to be honest."

Chelsea face Fulham at Craven Cottage this evening.
